It is a solid low carbon steel solid filler wire or (rod) used for TIG Welding & MIG/MAG (GMAW) Welding applications. It is mainly a carbon steel filler wire having Carbon, Manganese, and Silicon as the main alloying elements. MIG ER70S-6 Welding wire has increased quantities of deoxidizers, resulting in improved wetting, a flatter bead form, and the capacity to move at quicker rates. ER70S-6 MIG Welding Wire is generally used with 75/25 (argon/carbon dioxide) shielding gas or with higher contents of argon, such as 90/10, and can also be used with 100 percent carbon dioxide. ER70S-6 MIG Welding Wire is suitable for welding steels with moderate amounts of scale or rust. It may be used to weld carbon steel and low alloy steel in the appropriate strength grade. ER70S-6 MIG Welding Wire is largely used because it does not require shielding gas which reduces welding costs and can weld in windy conditions. The minimum tensile strength of ER70S-6 (ER49S-6) is 70 KSi (480 MPa) and the Yield strength is 58 KSi (400 MPa) with a minimum percentage elongation of 22%.
